Retired / Non-Practising Membership Category
Definition:
The Retired / Non-Practising membership category is intended for Canadian nurses who are no longer practicing nursing and no longer hold an active nursing licence in any Canadian province or territory.
This category recognizes the ongoing value of experienced nurses while clearly distinguishing them from members who are actively practicing.
Who Can Join
Eligible individuals must meet all of the following criteria:
Former or current members of CAHN
Retired from the practice of nursing or
Not currently practicing nursing (paid or unpaid) in Canada
Do not hold an active licence to practice nursing in a Canadian province or territory or hold a non-practising/retired status with their regulatory body
Membership Privileges & Benefits
Retired / Non-Practising members may:
Pay reduced membership fees
Eligibility for travel benefits is limited to Retired / Non-Practising members with a minimum of two (2) years of prior service on the CAHN Board or Executive, completed at any time before retirement.
Attend CAHN educational events, conferences, and meetings
Access continuing education resources
Participate in mentorship (as mentors)
Engage in advocacy and policy discussions
Volunteer on committees and working groups
Remain connected to the hepatology nursing community
Governance & Voting
This is a non-voting membership category
Members may:
Serve on committees
Members may not:
Hold National Board positions
