2019 AGM

Thank you to all our members who voted on holding CAHN’s AGM at the Canadian Liver Meeting in Montreal.  We can now confirm that this is a go!  The AGM will be held on Sunday, May 26th in Montreal.  Details will be posted on the CAHN website and in the newsletter as they unfold.

Attendance at the AGM is required to receive travel expense reimbursement to the Canadian Liver Meeting. See the Conference Travel Policy for more details.

Call for Nominations

Nominate yourself or a nurse you know to sit on CAHN’s Board of Directors or to serve as CAHN’s President.  Nominees will be elected by majority membership vote at the 2019 AGM.  CAHN is also taking nominations for Education Director, Treasurer, Secretary, and Conference Co-Chair to be appointed by the Board of Directors at the June 2019 BOD meeting.

Do you work with an outstanding nurse who deserves recognition?  One of the best parts of CAHN’s AGM is the award ceremony where those doing outstanding work joyously and often tearfully receive praise from peers. January 15th is the last day for nominations.

Award categories are:

Rising Star Award (1 per year)

Presented to a CAHN member who in a short time has been able to demonstrate an exceptional contribution to Hepatology nursing.

Distinguished Service Award (multiple/ as indicated)

Presented to a CAHN member who has contributed significantly to CAHN as an organization

Lifetime Achievement Award (multiple/ as indicated)

Presented to a CAHN member at the end of their career in Hepatology

Innovation & Inspiration (up to 3 per year)

Presented to a CAHN member or a multidisciplinary team containing at least one CAHN member

Exceptional Contribution to Hepatology Nursing Award (1 per year)

Presented to a CAHN member who has made an exceptional contribution to the Hepatology field through their clinical work, education, leadership or research

How to show interest in joining a committee

To show interest in a committee or activity sign in to your account.  Under “Members Only” click Update Your Profile” then click the button to “View Profile / Edit Profile”.  Scroll down to the “Additional Details” heading and check the boxes for the areas that interest you.  When the committee chair is looking for volunteers you may be contacted by email or phone.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to admin@cahn.ca directly.

2019 CAHN Events

CAHN, CASL, and CanHepC come together to plan the  2nd annual Canadian Liver Meeting (CLM).  Coming to Montreal on May 24-26, 2019.  More details coming soon.

We are pleased to announce plans to host two Regional Events in addition to the annual National Conference (The Canadian Liver Meeting) in 2019.  These will include the 2019 BC Nurse Leaders as well as a yet-to-be-decided event likely to take place in Ontario.  CAHN will be offering members travel reimbursement to attend the National Conference as well as ONE regional event.  Please know this is a pilot initiative with success being no impactful drop in attendance at the National Conference.  Details to unfold as planning continues.  Check the events page often.

Renew your membership before January 15th to qualify for travel reimbursement.

Non-members still have a chance to qualify by becoming a member before Dec 31, 2018, and renewing before Jan 15, 2019. Share this newsletter with your colleagues.
