Nurse Education Support

The CAHN Bursary is available to provide limited funding to nurses who are CAHN members and are undertaking or have completed the British Columbia Institute of Technology Hepatitis C Program. Nurses will be eligible for a minimum of $250.00 towards the Viral Hepatitis Course. Names of the successful recipients will also be posted in the CAHN Newsletter.

CAHN Nurse Tools

End Stage Liver Disease Project
Created by CAHN – Donna Zukowksi on behalf of the cirrhosis working group. A nurse working in hepatology will, on completion, demonstrate a basic understanding of the pathophysiology, consequences and overall management of a patient with cirrhosis
Hepatitis C Nurse Education Tool
Created by CAHN – Lesley Gallagher, and Donna Zukowski. A nurse working with a patient infected with Hep C may walk through these 8 modules with his/her patient to ensure a shared understanding of the disease, treatment options, and post-treatment continued health.

Created by Dr. Giada Sebastiani, MD and Presented to at CAHN’s 2018 BC Nurse Leaders.

Dr. Sebastiani is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Hepatologist at McGill University. She received a medical degree and specialized in internal medicine at the University of Padua, Italy and had training in clinical and basic research at the Venetian Institute of Molecular Medicine (Italy), University College of London (UK), University of Bordeaux (France) and Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (Montreal, Canada). Her work focuses on chronic liver diseases, liver fibrosis, hepatitis C and disorders of iron metabolism.

CATIE offers open online courses through eduCATIE.ca to build knowledge of HIV and hepatitis C science.
Courses are self-directed and are designed for service providers who prefer to learn on their own time and at their own pace. All participants receive a certificate of completion. Available in English and French at http://educatie.ca/
