Together, we have accomplished so much this year—celebrating milestones, navigating challenges, and strengthening the foundation of our shared mission.

The dedication and passion of our members and stakeholders have truly made this year one to remember.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re thrilled to announce the member benefits designed to further enrich your education and amplify our collective impact. From expanded resources and exclusive events to innovative tools and new ways to connect, we’re committed to supporting you in every way possible.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Here’s to wrapping up this year with gratitude and stepping into the new one with excitement and purpose.

2025 Member Benefits - Time to Renew Your Membership

Travel Support: CAHN is run by members for members. Education and patient care are our top priorities. To support this, CAHN offers a generous travel reimbursement benefit to ensure easy access to our educational events, The Canadian Liver Meeting and CAHNference. For 2025, this includes up to $500 in travel reimbursement towards each event plus 50% of one night’s accommodation at CLM and two nights’ at CAHNference. Members MUST attend CAHN’s annual general meeting IN FULL to be eligible. Make sure to read the Conference Travel Policy to be aware of other eligibility requirements. CAHN members also receive registration discounts to both events and partner events.

Virtual Education: CAHN strives to ensure education is accessible to all members, including those to whom travel is a barrier.  Since 2020 CAHN has offered virtual education to members through our video education library which houses presentations from all of our events since its inception. Members may access this education through their CAHN Member Portal.

NEW Mentorship & Leadership: We’re removing the “international” from the International Presentation Travel Grant (IPTG) in 2025 to support nurse presentations at national events. In addition, members will now have access to mentorship to help publish their work. Stay tuned for more information!

NEW Discounts: Another NEW member benefit that our team is growing is to give you discounts to other nursing organizations. When you renew or sign up to CAHN, let us know what other organizations you’re a part of.

NEW Facebook Community of Practice: A platform for CAHN nurses to connect, collaborate, and share professional insights. This space provides members with opportunities to engage in thoughtful discussions, keep up to date on CAHN resources, and stay informed on the latest trends and best practices in hepatology.

Recognition: Members may be nominated by their colleagues to receive deserving recognition for the important work they do.  We will be calling for award nominations at the AGM, so come prepared with your inspirational colleague in mind.

If you are a nurse working in Canada with patients with liver disease, join us in 2025 to receive all of the above and more for only $115.

If you are not a nurse, or you practice outside of Canada or you don’t work with patients but would like to access CAHN’s educational events and content, join as a Friend of CAHN for $75. Visit the Membership page to learn more or click the button below to join now.

AGM Registration will open on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Join the Team

CAHN is run by volunteers and we need engaged members to keep the good work going. Consider joining CAHN’s executive team either as a board member, a committee chair, or a committee member. Volunteering with CAHN is a rewarding and fun experience! We are looking for people who have about 2 hours per week to dedicate to moving CAHN’s initiatives forward. This is how CAHN is able to bring you the educational content you love. All experience levels are welcome. Having a diverse team from across the nation with varying perspectives helps us ensure educational gaps are bridged.

We are looking for 2 board members, a CLM planning chair, an education chair, and a finance chair to join the team in 2025.

If you are interested, please indicate so on the AGM registration form or send questions to admin@cahn.ca.

CAHNference 2024

The Canadian Association for Hepatology Nurses (CAHN) marked a significant milestone with its 25th annual conference, CAHNference 2024, which brought together a passionate community of hepatology professionals. The sold-out event was a testament to the association’s enduring commitment to advancing liver care and fostering collaboration.

Attendees explored vital topics, including nurse-led models that have been central to micro-elimination strategies in viral hepatitis, championing best practices in cirrhosis and peri-transplant care, and addressing complex clinical cases with holistic approaches. Highlights included sessions on point-of-care diagnostics, practical approaches to non-invasive liver assessments, a thought-provoking workshop on tackling burnout in nursing. Finally, this year’s program also introduced a session on abstract presentations, to celebrate hepatology nurses engaged in scholarly activities within their workplaces. It was well received and inspired nurses to consider putting together future projects to champion their work.

CAHNference 2024 also provided invaluable opportunities for networking, knowledge-sharing, and professional growth, underscoring the reasons behind CAHN’s continued success over the past quarter-century. The association’s dedication to education and community-building ensures a bright future for its impact on hepatology nursing. The gratitude and enthusiasm expressed by participants reflect the vibrant spirit of CAHN as it looks ahead to even greater accomplishments.
